Traditional bedroom
Traditional bedroom furniture often takes it's cues from popular historic designs. Examples are French, French Country, Rococo, 18th Century Italian, just to name a few. Design cues are usually much softer than with contemporary furniture and the overall shapes tend to be much more involved (i.e. wood carving, scrolled metal).

Contemporary
Contemporary bedrooms have clean lines and can be made of wood, both matte and high gloss, metal and glass or even lucite. It's design cues are usually minimalistic with greater attention paid to use of material, and greater attention to basic shapes.
